Kirkpatrick, Obama Refuse to Support SAFE Act To Pause Syrian Refugee Program
PHOENIX – This afternoon Chairman Robert Graham of the Arizona Republican Party criticized Democrat Ann Kirkpatrick, who is seeking a U.S. Senate seat, for not supporting a program to preserve national security by pausing the Syrian refugee program until additional background investigations of the refugees are in place.
“This is another Democrat, right here in Arizona, who joins President Obama in turning a blind eye to world events and putting the lives of Americans in jeopardy,” said Arizona Republican Party Chairman Robert Graham. “Her interest in supporting her Democrat boss in the White House is outweighing her support for her constituents and the security of every American, and it’s a tragedy which voters are going to put an end to on election day.”
The American Security Against Foreign Enemies Act (SAFE) passed the House with 289 votes, including 47 Democrats. President Obama, who lost Arizona by nearly ten percentage points in 2012, has threatened to veto the bill. Overview and text of the Act is here:
